CONTENT WARNING:

As a conflict journalist, Foley’s footage often contains images of war, including gunfire and victims of violence.

James “Jim” Foley was a conflict journalist and Medill graduate who covered violent confrontations including the Libyan and Syrian civil wars. In 2014, he was captured in Syria and beheaded by his captors in a public YouTube video that shocked the world. This year marks 10 years since Foley’s death.

This art exhibition is based on Foley’s own raw footage, giving viewers an opportunity to confront world conflicts as he did. This exhibit seeks to redefine Foley’s legacy, shifting the focus from his graphic, publicized murder to the greater purpose of his work.
